Hi Dr. Martinez! We’re looking forward to learning more about you. Let’s get started.
Hi there – my name is Dr. Peter Martinez. Alexis, my wonderful wife of 10 years, and I have 3 beautiful kids – Leo (4), Esther (2), and Sianna (10 months). My family and I moved to Austin from Central Florida 5 years ago when we opened up River City Wellness. I grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Living there helped foster my love of surfing, hunting, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.

Tell us about your business, River City Wellness

River City Wellness is a pediatric chiropractic office that focuses on holistic health. We opened our doors here in South Austin in 2017 and so excited to see patients as early as birth to 100 years old!
Our clinics exist to glorify God’s healing power through the lives of our patients by helping them achieve miraculous optimal health. We’re a part of a larger network of doctors called Max Living where we believe the body needs no help healing, it just needs no interference. Our passion is seeing full families under chiropractic care (we have a family that has four generations getting adjusted!).

There are several things that set us apart from other chiropractic offices. First and foremost, our office focuses on pediatric, pre-natal and family care. Everything about our office was decided with your family in mind. Second, as a level-2 corrective office, our doctors are trained to identify the root cause of the problem (be it back pain, sciatica, colicky babies, digestive issues, menstrual pain, etc) and perform chiropractic adjustments specifically geared towards what that individual needs that day.

Since the power that made the body heals the body, our doctors move the bones and our patients’ bodies do the healing. Lastly, we are a neurological-focused chiropractic office. What that means is there are a lot of chronic diseases that actually stem from the nervous system- think ADHD, Sensory Processing, Autism, Anxiety, etc. What we do at River City Wellness is identify those diseases as early as possible so we can “pump the brakes”, so to speak, on your body’s fight-or-flight response so your body can heal.

Where do you see River City Wellness in the next 5 years?

I’m so grateful to say that our clinics are growing! We have a sister clinic in Denver, Colorado that just celebrated being open for one year and another sister clinic in Miami, Florida that celebrates their one year anniversary this June. We have a clinic opening up later this year in Las Vegas, Nevada and two more clinics in Austin set to open in a few months! Our mission is to foster communities of hope, encouragement, and love so we’re very excited to be present in so many communities already.

What do you love about having a business in Austin?

A lot of people in Austin are already on holistic health journeys. It’s refreshing and encouraging to be around so many people who are looking to take their health into their own hands. At the end of the day, your health is your responsibilty- how you educate yourself, which sources you choose to listen to, and how you approach your and your family’s health is entirely up to you. We love being in Austin because we have the opportunity to empower everyone that walks into our doors to own their health.

Do you have any favorite small businesses besides your own?
Of course!
• We love Zoi Acupuncture and their market in downtown Buda called Zoi Market.
• Our go-to pediatric PT is called Wonder Pediatric Physical Therapy and Wellness and is located off Bee Caves.
• Our favorite fitness option for kiddos is called KidStrong South Austin. It’s amazing what those kids are capable of!

How about some Austin favorites?
• Favorite restaurant: True Food Kitchen is our team’s favorite healthy restaurant
• Our favorite coffee shop is Picnik – I like to order the adaptogen coffee there
• Our favorite good-for-your-soul place is Teal House Bakery – their cinnamon rolls are amazing!

Can you tell us something interesting about yourself that others may not know?
I started my health career out as an EMT in Central Florida. I’ve seen first-hand what it looks like for people to be stuck in a cycle of disease. That is one of the driving factors of my passion for holistic health.

And finally, what is one thing you hope people take away from visiting River City Wellness?
I hope people truly understand that their bodies are not broken or lacking. Their bodies are beautifully and wonderfully made and absolutely have the ability to heal.

Our Perfect Storm Workshop is coming up on March 3rd from 10am-12pm!
This free workshop is for families that struggle with ADHD, Sensory Processing, Autism, Anxiety and other chronic diseases that are linked to the nervous system. Many people come into our office and when they see how bad their spines are, they ask the question, “How did I get here?” For the majority of these patients, it started at birth. It’s time to discover the safe, effective and drug-free options that consistently improve the quality of life, health, behavior, and learning abilities of kiddos all over the world. Come learn how you can stop the Perfect Storm of disease in your family and promote a lifetime of health and healing.
