Meet Lindsey - Greater Austin Moms

Recently, I attended a women’s event for a day of pampering, sipping and shopping and had the privilege of meeting Lindsey Neuhaus at her booth. I was excited to find the perfect dress for a wedding AND the upcoming Bloggers & Bellinis event, but also get to hear about some of Lindsey’s background story and her very sweet business partner…

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I am a born and raised Texan.  Grew up in Houston and graduated from Memorial High School.  I went to the University of Texas and fell in love with Austin.  I moved away to Nashville for 3 years, married my husband, Ed. We moved back to Austin in 2007.

How many children do you have and what are their ages?

I have a boy and a girl. Caroline is 9 years old and Greyson is 6.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I love to sleep, but I get up at 5:30am every morning just to have an hour to myself before my people wake up.

I’m really impressed! I have the hardest time waking up before my family! What is your favorite thing about living in Austin?

My favorite thing about Austin is the deep blue, cloud free skies that we get in the fall and spring.  I also love that queso is served at every meal.

I love that native Texans see no problem with eating Mexican food at any or every meal. What do you love to do with your family around town?

We love our Friday dinners Maudie’s. Seeing shows at Bass Concert Hall and ballet at the Long Center. Taking day trips down to Wimberley. Running around the Hill Country Galleria lawn and visiting the Bee Cave Library.

Tell us about your business and how it has grown and evolved since you started.

For over 8 years, I have been a sales rep for a jewelry and accessories company called Stella & Dot.  I stared when my daughter was 18 months old. At the time, I had decided to be a stay at home mom, but didn’t realize how much I needed to get out of the house and be amongst adults.  Stella & Dot was my avenue to be social, meet people and have adult conversation. Then it turned into a business and I have had so much fun meeting women all over the city of Austin, sharing the Stella & Dot style through accessories and clothing.  I look forward to this for many years to come.

And, just this past year, my daughter and I decided to start something together, so we opened an online clothing boutique called Bizzy Lizzy Boutique.  We have a beautiful collection of embroidered clothing for girls/tweens size 5-14 and women size XS-2X. We love embroidered clothing and we wanted to share our mother daughter style with others.  We are having a blast doing this together.

Are you involved in anything else within the community?

I started a networking group a few years ago called Westlake Women in Business– Coffee Power Hour.  Our members are amazing women business owners from all over the city. We meet in Westlake at the Hotel Granduca on the second Tuesday of every month from 9:45am-11am.  It is a fun power hour of getting to know each other, along with mastermind brainstorming through the challenges in our businesses. We encourage each other and cheer each other on.

This is awesome! I love hearing about women connecting with one another to build each other up! How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

I love connecting people.  We are all looking for answers and solutions.  As women, we exchange “survival skills”. We can’t do it alone and we need each other’s experiences to make it through.  We have to share our stories with each other, they aren’t suppose to be kept to ourselves. Learning from others and sharing knowledge has gotten me to where I am today.
