Black History Month Reads for Kids - Greater Austin Moms

I love Black History Month. I remember being moved by it as a young child, not fully understanding, but feeling the weight of it. We cannot underestimate the significance of living this paradox before our children’s eyes: we can grieve the past and present injustices while celebrating and memorializing the overcomers, their lives and their victories.

Below is a list of top picks to read with your children throughout the month of February.

  5. I am Rosa Parks (Ordinary People Change the World) by Brad Meltzer
  6. Bedtime Inspirational Stories: 50 Amazing Black People Who Changed the World by L.A. Amber (Kindle Edition so you could start reading tonight!)
