Have you ever wanted your kiddos to experience art and sensory play, but you’re not big on messes? If you said yes, then you have to meet KK Couser, a South Austin Mom that created Art Club to solve that problem for parents.
When my oldest was about 18 months old, we had friends invite us to “Art Club.” I was at a point where I felt confident to get out and about with my toddler, so I decided to tag along. KK Couser, a mom of three and previous preschool teacher, decided to put her skills together and start Art Club in her garage and driveway.
For almost seven years, KK has created a space where moms could bring their kiddos to paint, craft, play in water, shaving cream – essentially get really messy and not have to worry about cleaning up the mess!
It’s so great for kids to experience sensory play and the shaving cream is so much fun for them. Spreading it around, getting their hands dirty (and sometimes their entire body!), covering trucks with shaving cream and cleaning them off, the possibilities are endless!
Kids run the show at KK’s and have creative freedom to paint and make collages, in addition to playing in the water and shaving cream! Art Club is geared towards 5 and under.
I typically bring a snack and a change of clothes – they’ll get messy and wet! The kids have a great time and I’ve met some great women there as well. I really love what KK has created and I hope you’ll check out an Art Club this season.
KK hosts “Art Club” every Friday (until it gets too cold!) from 10-12p. The cost is $15 and $10 for each sibling. Little ones under age 1 are free.
