Meet a Mom: Allie Lindenmuth with Anook Athletics - Greater Austin Moms

I’m excited for you to meet my dear friend, Allie Lindenmuth, of Anook Athletics. Not only is she a mom of 2 and a small business owner, she is also an advocate for women. I’m lucky to call her my friend and I think you’ll love getting to know her.

Thanks so much for chatting with us. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m Allie! I have been with my husband, Justin, for 12 years and we have two little ones together, Hayes and Georgia. I lived in Houston until I was 10 and then we moved to Encinitas, CA where I spent the rest of my childhood. As a 6th generation Texan, I was excited to return to Texas at 18 to attend UT Austin. Post college, I worked in the nonprofit, development world until I became a pre and postnatal yoga teacher 12 years ago, and then eventually founder of Anook Athletics 3 years ago. My family and I now split our time between Austin and Victoria, BC.

Let’s learn more about Anook Athletics.
I founded Anook Athletics in fall of 2019. We offer athletic apparel for moms specifically catering to pregnant and nursing women. After teaching pre and postnatal yoga for 10 years and then becoming a mom myself in 2016, I realized there was a gap in the athletic apparel market. I wanted to create apparel that supported women through one of the most transitional times of their life. I am so proud of what we have created.

Our mission is to Give Moms the Gift of Time – what are your best time-saving tips/resources as a mom?
• Time blocking has been huge for me. It really helps me make time for working outside of the home and still have quality time for myself and my family. Love google calendars for this!
• Meal planning. I love cooking but dinner can be really stressful for me. Meal planning allows me to look at the week and plan accordingly. Also, thank god for Favor or any other takeout app.
• Letting others help. Hiring a full time nanny was a big decision but I am so happy we did. We used a nanny agency in Austin and that was beyond helpful.

What are some of your biggest challenges you are currently facing within your business?
Finding a good balance between work and mom life. I feel like I am craving more time with my family. When I started the business, I did not think about creating something that would easily incorporate my kids on the day to day. My goal was to create a thriving business that helped women and to be successful. To be honest, I did not fully understand how this company would impact my life. This challenge has definitely inspired me to start thinking of creative ways to evolve the brand into something that I can spend more time with my kids.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why and how long would you stay?
I am fortunate that I have traveled to so many far off, exotic places. South Africa is next on my list. I would want to go for a month and take advantage of seeing the wildlife, learning more about their rich history, and going on wine tours.

And of course, where are your favorite spots in Austin?
● Favorite restaurant:
This is a hard one. I would say my favorites are: Polvos or Matt’s el Rancho for TexMex, Andiamos for old school Italian, Kome for sushi and Perlas for seafood.
● Favorite coffee place:
Radio for sure but if I am wanting a chai, I always love Picnik.
● Favorite place to grab drinks:
Four Seasons holds a special place in my heart because we got married there. Also love Donn’s because it is our favorite for people watching. We always snag the booth in the back.

Thanks, Allie! Always love to learn more about fellow mamas.
Be sure to check out Anook Athletics – I’m two years postpartum and still wearing Anook almost daily.
