I remember well the woes of our first iPad being filled with learning apps that were sub-par. I was constantly deleting those with too many in-app purchases or music that grated on my nerves, and honestly many claimed to be “educational” but were nothing more than barely entertaining. Thankfully, when all four of my kids were still littles I discovered Learn With Homer.
First, we signed up for the free trial and set up profiles for each kiddo. The app is designed for children ages 2-8 with early literacy lessons tailored to each child. It was a perfect fit for everyone. Before long my kids were not only excited about learning to read, but spouting off history facts, reciting poetry and singing folk songs that even I enjoyed learning with them (which years later, when a word triggers our memories we’ll burst into song.)
When it came time for the free trial to end, it was a no brainer. I deleted almost all of our other learning apps (we kept a few math apps), and fully committed to Learn With Homer for the remaining years my kids were learning to read. When it was time to start really teaching my daughters (the younger two) to read, I was shocked that they were way ahead of the beginning lessons I had planned!
I must mention that the customer service team at Learn With Homer is also stellar! There were a couple of times that something would go wrong or glitchy and both times “Homer” sent my kids letters and gifts in the mail- like real snail mail. They couldn’t believe it, and this momma was crazy impressed.
There is so much to do, experience and learn that your kids will never get bored with this app. So go ahead, clear that iPad and take the plunge. If early literacy is a priority, delete ’em all and make the investment in this one. Learn With Homer is worth every penny.
