When I saw this quote on BookSpring’s homepage, it reminded me just how important reading is at home. Reading is one of my favorite things to do with my kids. They look forward to reading every night before bed, and we grab a book when they need a reset in the afternoons. It’s a special time for all of us!
BookSpring is the leading Central Texas organization focusing on building literacy skills and the motivation to read through increasing home libraries and reading aloud activities for children. With almost 50 years of experience, BookSpring has taken the best practices of their founding programs and adapted them to the unique needs of Central Texas low-income families. They are working hard to kick off a great new future full of passionate young readers!
On May 13th, BookSpring is hosting their annual BookSpring Fest – a fun-filled outdoor festival celebrating books and fun family activities! The afternoon will be full of special guests reading some of their favorite stories aloud, as well as kid-friendly activities throughout the day like face painting, a balloon maker, and more!
There will be opportunities for attending families and individuals to win fun prizes by playing free carnival games. And what would a reading festival be without FREE books? BookSpring is dedicated to getting families reading and succeeding together! There will also be food available for purchase from Top Taco and some complementary brews from Austin Eastciders, Saint Arnold Brewing, and Austin Beerworks for the adults to enjoy.
And if your dog is like ours, he likes to listen to books too (or just likes an excuse to cuddle up with his humans). Feel free to bring your pup to BookSpring Fest! Just make sure they are on a leash and keep a safe distance from the petting zoo.
